If you’re looking to make a lifestyle change, or are just wanting to explore some new activities, working out and eating healthy are things that many of us try to strive for. Luckily for us, Fort Scott is home to plenty of gyms, walking trails and restaurants with healthy eats to help us keep healthy and happy all summer long!

We rounded up a few local destinations for all things “healthy” in the area, which includes everything from family-friendly gyms to the ever-popular farmer’s market. No matter what kind of health journey you’re on, these local businesses and parks will be able to help you along the way. We’re rooting for you!

Smallville Athletics

Yes, we are a bit partial to Smallville Athletics! Our family has been enjoying this wonderful studio for years and we are blessed to call owners Aaron and Lindsey Watts friends! Their mission it to build a well balanced, healthy and fully capable community and wow, are they doing it! Just starting out? Don’t worry! Beginner’s classes offered throughout the year. Smallville trainers will go over nine foundational movements and diagnose their athletes and find restrictions and teach them the movements they are capable of. They really do have something for everyone.
Special events include the Murph Challenge, Fort Games, Day of the Lifting Dead and more!
CrossFit packages are $90 for unlimited contracts, $80 for student unlimited and a 10 class punch card for children for $80.
Community is everything to Team Smallville – they are all about supporting charity and have collected canned goods for the Beacon Food Pantry, fundraise for Care to Share Cancer Support Group and others!

Why Smallville? “Smallville is a small town in Kansas, where Superman grew up, Aaron was called Clark Kent/Superman while serving in the army. Lindsey was from Fort Scott, Aaron lived in Fort Scott for a while when younger.”
